TRAP SALSA SOUNDS INTRODUCED BY NOKKI CABRERA & HER CUBAN AMERICAN ROOTS

NOKKI CABRERA by DLAREZMAG

She was born to immigrant parents that fled to America in 1994 during Fidel Castro‘s reign. Nokki’s parents gave her and her brother a life different from theirs while instilling the culture and values they were raised within Cuba through hard work and perseverance.

NOKKI’S MUSICAL INFLUENCE

She grew up in a house with Spanish-speaking parents and often listened to Latin artists such as Celia Cruz, Willie Colón, and Gloria Estefan, to name a few. Nokki Cabrera began singing as a child; she used her diverse upbringing to incorporate into her artistry and style of music. The name Cabrera came from her mother’s maiden name, as she effortlessly embraces her Cuban Heritage.

A REFUGEE FAMILY AND THEIR NEW BEGINNING

As America assisted refugees from Cuba, her parents were relocated to New Mexico, where Nokki attended grade school, learned English, and ultimately found her passion for singing and performing. By the time she was in high school, her family had moved back to Florida, where she had attended Spoto High School and honed her musical skills, and became a first chair flute player.

Nokki’s music is a combination of Cuban salsa, American pop, and southern hip- hop trap undertones. Her keen sense of fashion and sweet personality has already won fans over all ages and backgrounds, and she’s here to claim her title as the princess of Trap Salsa.

With 21,618 is a solid promise for this type of music that rebirths with strength and a story to be said.
